Kia Ora - we’re Jake and Loren

Lume Weddings is a photo and video practice based in Auckland.

We’re a couple of mates who have been documenting weddings for the past few years together, travelling to all corners of our beautiful country, Aotearoa, New Zealand.

We’re a little more casual about our approach to documenting weddings compared to your standard photographer and videographer. We both work full time jobs, Loren is a freelance brand photographer and videographer working with design studios, and Jake is a residential builder. Having worked as full time wedding photographers and videographers, we still love being part of couples beautiful and incredibly special days, but at a different pace. We’re both very sociable, approachable, and relatable. We like to blend in with your friends and family, a drink in hand part taking in conversation, while documenting every wonderful scene of the day. We like to have fun so that our photos also reflect that.

  • We are based in Auckland, and yes we do travel!

  • We aim to bring a unique approach to our work, one that’s grounded in fine art aesthetics and defined by your personal connection. Although we place a high priority on creating good imagery along with all the thinking, calculation and effort that comes with that, we like take to an approach that feels lighthearted, comfortable, fun, and easy going. It’s important to us that you and your loved one feel free to enjoy the process!

  • Typically once we have processed the booking with you, we find it’s incredibly helpful to meet up over a coffee or drink to chat about what will happen on the day, usually about a month before the wedding. We keep an open line of communication with our couples, so if you ever need to reach out with questions or ideas, please know you can do so at any time! We can also provide suggestions for venues, photo locations, dress and suit makers, jewellers & florists. We always endeavour to help make the planning and organising as stress-free and streamlined as possible - more fun that way!

  • We offer a range of Photo & Video packages that cater to specific wants and needs! To find out more about our pricing and what we offer, inquire with us and we will get back to you with more information within the week.

  • We regularly shoot with 35mm, medium format and Super 8 videography, as well as digital photo and video. By utilising architecture, natural light and a documentary flow, our imagery creates a sense of elegance and instant nostalgia.
